Northcon, Inc. was founded by owners Randy and Renay Smith in 1977. The newly formed Native American owned company quickly grew from subcontract work, in the multiple facets of interior finish trades, to operating as a general contractor focusing on commercial and residential projects. In this period of growth and transition, Randy and Renay recognized the value of serving customers’ needs and committed to “customer satisfaction” as the primary business focus for Northcon.
In 1992, Randy and Renay made a strategic decision to relocate their family, home, and business to Hayden, Idaho. They began the process of expanding the business structure and market base to reach into the surrounding states, performing a variety of residential and commercial projects. Customer satisfaction remained their primary focus.
In 2001, Northcon entered and became certified in the SBA 8(a) and HUBZone programs and began building its federal contract portfolio. The business strategy was to market to federal government agencies and continue the expansion into multiple states, while serving the federal client base.
